Experiencing low vision or hearing difficulties can be distressing for a young child. The disconnect between them and the world around them may lead to behavior issues or feelings of detachment. Does your child:
- Squint or blink frequently? - Have trouble reading or sit very close to the TV or screens? - Complain that things look blurry? - Struggle to follow directions? - Listen to audio at a high volume? - Often seem distracted or unresponsive to loud or sudden sounds?
These are just a few signs that your child might be experiencing vision or hearing loss. Identifying these issues early is crucial for ensuring your child receives the medical care they need to feel confident and understood. Early detection can help prevent delays in language, speech, or social skills.
That’s why CPLC, in partnership with First Things First, is offering a FREE sensory screening. If your child requires further medical procedures or interventions, we invite you to join our parent support group. It can be scary to learn that your child may have a language delay or needs surgery to drain fluid from their eardrum. Even getting a toddler to wear glasses can be a challenge!
We aim to provide a safe space for you to share experiences while combating misinformation. As a community, we will support each other in following through with recommended treatments and interventions.
